5/7 report

Well… good news and bad news to report. The good news is that Ryan had his last dose of chemo today. We are so glad that it is finished. We just have to do all the post-chemo scans and such to see if all the tumors are gone.

Now for the bad news. After giving Ryan a hug, I noticed that he felt warmer than normal. He took his temp, and it was 101.0. The doctor had told me if his temp is over 100.5 to call, so I did. His ANC was 28.1 today when we are the clinic. So with the numbers being low and the temp looking like it was on the rise, the doctor had me bring him in. That’s right, you read it correct – we are back in the hospital now because of the temp. And yes, it stinks that we are back here. More than likely we will be here until his ANC is 200 or better.

5/2 update

Well, Ryan got home yesterday and went straight to his bed. We got home about 3 in the afternoon, and I had to get him up to go and get Bryce and Deanna. When we got back home, he went to my bed and slept there until 9 or so, then went back to his bed and slept all night. He has been sick today, but after his medication, he has perked up, and Ryan is now watching movies in his room with Deanna. Not sure who is enjoying that more…. :)

Today was the March of Dimes walk, and since Ryan wasn’t feeling good, Troy took Bryce and they walked it. Troy said that he and Bryce ran the last little bit of it. Sounds like they had a good time.

We know that everyone likes to read the updates on the blog, but when we got home, the posts slow down. We try to do things that Ryan likes to do, and we forget to update the blog. Ryan does have an appointment on Thursday for the last dose of this round and to have his counts done. Then we will figure out the next step and post it here. Thanks everyone for reading the blog and for the wonderful comments. They are encouraging to us during this difficult time.

5/1 update

Can you believe that it’s May already? Well… I can’t. It seems like I’ve lived in a cave for the past 3 months, but hey, it’s all part of it right now.

The doctor has been by this morning, and as soon as the paperwork is done, we can go home. Ryan is so ready to get out of here, but in the meantime he is enjoying watching some TV.
